"This is no MAXX"
I smoke the MAXX, the Medalist is not even close. Smoked ten of them and regret buying them.

"Too inconsistent!"
I think these are pretty good when they're good, but not worth the money when they're bad. Unfortunately they are bad too often. I lit one up just a couple of days ago, and fought the draw all the way through , which ruins even a great cigar. They may be worth a chance from time to time, but I HATE looking forward to a nice cigar and being let down like that.

"A Great Surprise!!"
I got one of these in a sampler pack and let it sit in the humi for a couple of months. Lit up one evening and to my surprise it was fantastic...well constructed, even burn and stayed lit throughout...this has become one of my favorites. Folks rave about the Maxx but I find this to be the superior one in the Alec Bradley line.

"Darn good smoke!"
I bought 10 at auction and could'nt wait to try one, they looked so good. With the exception of having to touch it up once it was perfect. All I look and hope for in a maduro. Over the next 4 months I've smoked 4 more and with the exception of one with a firm draw, they have all been great. That semi-sweet taste of coffee/chocolate and just enough spice to carry over from puff to puff. Medium/full to start and then progressing to full at the end. A suggestion to all..... pay close attention to temperature and humidity. To much of either screws up a good maduro. I'm just sayin'...........

"Worst I've smoked...ever."
Burn - Sideways isn't bad, is it? I'll smoke the other half later. Consistency - Very consistent. Consistently bad. Draw - You'll have a muscular, fully veined Schwarzenegger (Predator era) neck after two or three of these smokes. Appearance - Looks like a cigar. I assure you it is not. This is an exercise device. Taste - Nice mild smoke...if you chew it. Construction - Mostly twigs and branches. Break one of these open and you'll see that it's filled with mite chewed leafs...probably not good enough for Phillip Morris.

"SLOW STARTER"
This toothy, oily maduro is a slow starter with a hint of bitterness, but it warms up very nicely to show sweet, woody notes with hints of cocoa and vanilla in the second half of the burn - which I really enjoyed (in fact, I removed the ban to smoke it further down). I had this in my humidor only 3 days before smoking one, which may account for the pronounced tunneling; I will let the others rest for another week. Burns with a nice white ash. The stick is rolled with a curious combination of Honduran/Nicaraguan fillers, Connecticut Shade binder, and Costa Rican wrapper. "Cigar Insider" rated this an 89 in July 2005, and I'd say that's accurate for the second half of the burn. If the humidor makes a difference after a week or so, I'll buy another box.

"Good Riddance"
I bought the 7x50's a year ago and disliked them right out of the box. After a month of resting in my humidor I tried one and still bad. Six mo. no difference. Smoked the last one last night and the same result: tight draw, horribly uneven burn, sour taste. Pre-light aroma remarkably akin to horse dung.

"What a difference some Humidore time makes !!"
To be fair, I have to say that after a few weeks in the humidor, these smokes have morphed into a fine smoke. Wish now I'd had the patience to wait when I first got them ... they're superb now and I'll not feel at all bad about spending some bucks for some more.

"Tight"
I had to throw out 6 of a box of ten because I couldn't get a draw. I purchased these last summer when famous had them for cheap. They were tight to begin with and even after a year of aging they did not improve. The four I did smoke were not good sour taste, burned bad and were just harsh. I smoked one right away and smoked the other three this week.

"No Medals from me"
Purchased a box at auction. Smoked one when they first arrived. Have since smoked four more. Very good looking stick, smooth and well constructed. Draw is only so-so though, and slightly tight. Burn has been consistently in need of babysitting and touch-ups. So far, not too bad ... but the taste - I've had much better tasting bundle cigars at much less money. These things seem to be doing fine for a few draws, then out of nowhere, some sort of acrid/bitter taste just floods in. Have trashed two of them at less than half smoked, and sure not nubbin' any. Will be leaving the rest in the humidor a while, in hopes they 'grow up' a bit. I'll stick with the bundles of el-cheapos and take my chances there, before I buy more of these. At least, they look good in the humidor.
