Yeah, have never had a bad La Gloria in any of their varieties -- Oops, I take that back -- the Serie R were super peppery, couldn t smoke those -- but I m sure some folks like very peppered. In any case, La Glorias always seem to be well made with the best quality for the price.

"Quality Control"

My last purchase of LaGloria Cubana Charlemagne cigars have been a big disappointment. I would say that 40% o the cigars in the box are defective. After you light them, a sizable hole in the tobacco appears making it very hard to draw and kept lighted. Eventually the taste is awful and I get another cigar. This issue has occurred over the last year or so and I suspect something changed in the manufacturing process. These USED to be great cigars, but used to be s don t count anymore.... LaGloria s are off my order list too.

I ve been smoking cigars since the 1970 s when the Tinder Box came to life. Of course in those days there was no Cigar Aficionado magazine and the Tinder Box catered to Pipe Smokers. However, they did have a few brands of cigars Hoya de Nicaragua and their own blend. Well time has come full circle. I was looking for a good old style Cuban Cigar and by chance back in 1993 I got a box of LGC Chalamagnes, DAMN what a great decision. I ve been smoking them since and Love everyone I smoke. So, if you want an old style Cuban Cigar and can t fly to Cuba buy a box of LGC s and enjoy, Have them with some strong Cuban Coffee.

I have been smoking the Avo #3's for ever because of it's smooth unitarily uninhibited taste and draw...They became to pricey...The Charlemagne Natural is my new Valentine...MB

Just had one of these last night. I'm not a big Churchill or bigger size kind of guy because I usually don't have enough time to smoke a whole one. I made time last night now that the weather outside is getting nicer. It was definitely worth it. Nice and medium to full taste that at no time was overpowering. It was awesome with a glass of Shiraz.

The Charlemagne Natural is a full-bodied, spicy cigar. Lots of mouth filling texture and flavor and a great finish. Even, slow burn and a long ash. Take your time savoring each draw. This is one of my favorites.

I have smoked the LGC Charlemagne for the past 4 years. It is my favorite US smoke. In fact, it is the only US cigar I buy. While it is not my favorite overall cigar (Partigas Lusitania is) it is quite a satisfying cigar. It normally takes me between 1.5-2 hours to smoke. I especially like the large ring guage, not normally found in Cuban cigars.

"Not For Me"

Having been a wavell smoker for many years I was excited to try the Charlemagne but to my dismay I found that there is no comparison with it s shorter cousin. While the wavell with it s consistent over all quality of construction, flavor and aroma has never disappointed me the Charlemagne was hard to keep lit, had an uneven burn during the entire smoke and also delivered a bitter taste during the last third. It s not just the Charlemagne though as I ve tried several of the La Gloria line including the Gilded Age , the serie R and others and none of them are as good to me as the plain ol La Gloria Cubana natural wavell,... still the best cigar that they make IMO.
