Factory Throwouts No. 59 Claro Reviews [view details]

"A LOT better than you might expect - often better than premiums"
I just spent about $450 on disappointing premium cigars. I am now ordering more #59s, which I smoked for the past three years when money was tighter. These are flavorful/rich, neither bland or earthy . The claro gives a nice medium; darker wrappers are a bit strong. Machine-made cigars always draw well and are easy to light. The ash is flakier, so it can get on your shirt. I m going to let my $450 age until next year. For this year, I m back to one I can rely on.

"I like em."
Back in the day, Claro was a very popular wrapper. Kind of hard to find a value priced Claro these days but these are better than I thought they would be and worth the price of a more expensive cigar.

"One of the last cheap candelas"
I purchase a bundle every summer for a simple candela that reminds me of the old cuban candelas my step dad smoked in the 60’s. They are not great, not a knock you out cigar, but really very good for a fast, cheap earthy smoke. Easy draw, sometimes loose but for around a buck and a half a stick, go for it.

"Paper wrapper"
The Dominican filler is wrapped in brown paper with the thin wrapper leaf on top. This explains other comments on difficulty to cut. I did not know I would be sucking on a brown paper bag. Try General Grant. Same price range, better taste, and no paper wrapper for a cheap but quality smoke.

"Buy some"
Inexpensive. Burns great. Did I say inexpensive? Buy some.

"These grow on you."
If you hate candela you still might want to try these. Rather moist and somewhat difficult to V-cut but using your upper-body strength will cut clean. Good draw, even burn. Pleasant candela bitterness depending on how fast you smoke it. One interesting anecdotal incident: They turned my Drymistat a shade of green. So what? Bottom line; I ll probably order again. I m already missing them as my morning get-to-work smoke.

"Surprised!"
Didn t know what to expect. These came as part of a sampler pack, and was pleasantly surprised by the taste! Great draw, slow and even burn. Will definitely order on their own to add to the humidor!

"Bad 2nd"
First let me say that my priority in cigars is good burn and draw. I can put up with a mediocre tasting stick if it smokes well. That said, these cigars consistently had very poor burn and about half had bad draw. The taste was okay, but if I can t smoke it, what good does that do me? I see the previous review was good - here s hoping I just got a bad batch. I will allow these are Factory Throwouts; however, there are many other seconds that are far and away better than these.
